Here is a proposed patch for portability of doc/t2h.pm for GNU Texinfo
7.1 and 7.1.90 (7.2 pretest). I tested against 7.1 and 7.1.90 (7.2
pretest). There is a difference in the headings compared to the website
version, maybe related to FA_ICONS not being set the same, but the
result seems correct.
I also renamed $element to $output_unit in ffmpeg_heading_command as in
new equivalent makeinfo/texi2any code the $element variable is the
$command variable in ffmpeg_heading_command, which is very confusing. I
left as is the $command variable to have a patch easier to read, but it
could make sense to rename $command as $element later on.
The patch could also have effects with Texinfo 7.0, since some of the
changes are for that version, but that probably never show up because it
is for situations that may not exist in ffmpeg manuals (for example
@node without sectioning command), or because the code is robust to some
missing information (case of $heading_level in ffmpeg_heading_command
that was not set, as far as I can tell).

This is a behavior preserving change for all non-overflowing cases.
Slice-based filters computed per-slice boundaries as (dim * jobnr) / nb_jobs
in int, which overflows for large dimensions with many slice threads,
yielding wrong slice bounds and out-of-array accesses. ff_slice_pos()
performs the multiplication in 64bit.
Backported to 5.1: applied the ff_slice_pos() conversion to the filters
present in 5.1 (filters added after the 5.1 branch are skipped), and added
the required filters.h includes. ff_slice_pos() itself is already present
in 5.1. Channel-count based slices (bounded, cannot overflow) are left as
in 6.1.

The symbol prefix check would incorrectly detect a bogus prefix in
circumstances where sanitizers instrument the build, like when
configuring with the clang-asan toolchain where it would detect the
prefix as __odr_asan_gen_, which is obviously wrong.
To fix this, adjust the prefix detection to only detect a
one-character prefix, which is the only case that matters
anywhere right now.

Common symbols are not part of ISO-C and therefore not used
by FFmpeg at all. Yet linker warnings to ensure it stays
that way are nevertheless wrong, because the existence of
common symbols does not imply that there is a bug in our code.
More precisely, Clang's ASAN implementation uses a common symbol
___asan_globals_registered when used on Elf targets with
the -fsanitize-address-globals-dead-stripping option;
said option is the default since Clang 17 [1].
This leads to 1883 warnings about ___asan_globals_registered
when linking here.
(Even without that option there were warnings like
_ZN14__interception10real_vforkE being overridden.)
Said warning is also unnecessary: The proper way to ensure
that our code is free of common symbols is to let the compiler
enforce this. But this is already the default since GCC 10
and Clang 11, so there is no risk of introducing our own
common symbols.

The DVD subtitle parser handles two types of packets: "normal"
packets with a 16-bit length, and HD-DVD packets that set the
16-bit length to 0 and encode a 32-bit length in the next four
bytes. This implies that HD-DVD packets are at least six bytes
long, but the code didn't actually verify this.
The faulty length check results in an out of bounds read for
zero-length "normal" packets that occur in the input, which are
only 2 bytes long, but get misinterpreted as an HD-DVD packet.
When this happens the parser reads packet_len from beyond the
end of the input buffer. The subtitle stream is not correctly
decoded after this point due to the garbage packet_len.
Fixing this is pretty simple: fix the length check so packets
less than 6 bytes long will not be mistakenly parsed as HD-DVD
packets.

For frames with height <= 4, filter_intra reads cur[+-3*refs] out of the

This function overreads the input plane for odd dimensions, because the
chroma plane is always rounded up, which means (xy << subsample) + 1 exceeds
the actual alpha plane size.

uyvytoyuv422 converts packed UYVY, whose macroblocks are pixel pairs, and
the SIMD code only handled even widths. On an odd width the trailing half
macroblock made the kernel write past the end of the Y/U/V destinations:
the AVX512ICL masked tail dropped the odd pixel and the fall-through
re-entered the SIMD loop, writing a full mmsize*2 chunk past the planes
(127 bytes of Y, 63 of U and 63 of V); the sse2/avx/avx2 scalar tail
wrote one byte past the Y plane.
Process only whole pairs and emit the trailing odd column from a small
per-row epilogue that matches uyvytoyuv422_c (ydst[w-1] = src[2w-1],
udst[cw-1] = src[2w-2], vdst[cw-1] = src[2w]).
All four SIMD variants are now bit-exact with the C reference for even and
odd widths and no longer overwrite the destination. Verified on AVX512ICL
hardware (Ryzen 9 9950X) with checkasm.

get_dc() divides the accumulated, OBMC-weighted DC by aa, the sum of the
squared OBMC weights taken over the in-plane pixels. When an OBMC block
falls entirely outside the plane - e.g. a tiny chroma plane after mcdeint
splits a frame into fields - no pixel contributes, aa stays 0 and the
ROUNDED_DIV() divides by zero (SIGFPE). ab is 0 in exactly the same case,
so the result degenerates to 0; return it directly.
Reproducible with the GPL mcdeint filter in slow/extra_slow mode, e.g.
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc=s=128x2 -vf mcdeint=mode=slow -f null -
Add a self-contained lavfi-based FATE regression test for the slow mode,
which previously crashed and is therefore not covered by the existing
sample-based fast/medium tests.

For an edge block, get_block_rd() copies the full-OBMC-weight central
region directly from cur[] into the reconstruction. It moved one
boundary to block_w/block_h but overwrote the in-plane clip (x0/x1/y0/y1
computed earlier from the plane size) instead of intersecting with it.
When a plane is narrower than block_w - e.g. a tiny field/chroma plane
produced by the mcdeint filter - the right-edge case left x0 = block_w
while x1 stayed clipped to w - sx < block_w, so x1 - x0 became negative
and was passed to memcpy() as a huge size_t, crashing with SIGSEGV.
Intersect the moved boundaries with the existing clip so the copy region
stays inside the plane and the memcpy length can never be negative.
Reproducible with the GPL mcdeint filter in slow/extra_slow mode, e.g.
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc=s=5x32 -vf mcdeint=mode=slow -f null -
This is a separate crash from the get_dc() SIGFPE (ticket #7779) reached
through the same iterative_me() path. Add a lavfi-based FATE regression
test.

Commit 5b98cea4 added a size < 2 guard to sctp_write() to prevent
out-of-bounds access when max_streams is enabled, but the identical
pattern in sctp_read() was not addressed.
When max_streams is non-zero, sctp_read() passes (buf + 2, size - 2)
to ff_sctp_recvmsg(). If size < 2, size - 2 wraps to a large value
on the implicit cast to size_t in the callee.
Add the same guard.

The resample asm code as it is currently handles 1 sample at a time
The asm code should be redesigned and handle more than 1 sample at a
time. That is the whole purpose of SIMD. There is also multiple samples
available that need identical handling like from several channels or
similar handling from other points in time.
Such redesign would make the resampler faster and would change the
requirements of padding and maybe memory layout. So it seems simpler
to just avoid overwriting in the asm as it is today than to have
the allocation handle specific overallocation for asm code that
ideally should be redesigned

Fix two buffer overreads in the PowerPC yuv2planeX SIMD paths
that cause daily FATE checkasm-sw_scale ASAN failures on both
ppc64 (G5, altivec) and ppc64le (POWER9, VSX):
1. VSX LOAD_FILTER: vec_vsx_ld(joffset, filter) reads 16 bytes
at the given byte offset. When joffset >= filterSize*2 - 14
(e.g. joffset=30 for filterSize=16), this reads up to 14 bytes
past the 32-byte filter array. Fix by replacing the vector
load with vec_splats(f[j]) which only reads the single int16_t
element needed (the result is splatted to all lanes anyway).
2. GET_LS look-ahead overread: yuv2planeX_8_16 calls
yuv2planeX_8 twice per filter tap. Each call's GET_LS macro
speculatively loads the next 16-byte vector for pipelining.
On the second call, this look-ahead reads 16 bytes past the
last valid source element. Fix by tightening the SIMD loop
bound from (dstW - 15) to (dstW - 23), ensuring the farthest
speculative load stays within src[j][0..dstW-1]. The scalar
fallback handles the remaining 16-23 trailing pixels.

Slice based filter workers compute their per-thread row/sample/channel
boundaries as total * jobnr / nb_jobs. The total * jobnr product is
evaluated in int and overflows signed int for large dimensions and many
slice threads, before the division by nb_jobs brings it back in range.

deinterlace_slice() computed per-thread row boundaries with int
multiplication height * (jobnr + 1). With a tall frame and many filter
threads the product overflows signed int before the division by nb_jobs.
Use int64_t for the intermediate product before converting back to int
row indices.

fastaudio_decode() computes
subframes = pkt->size / (40 * channels);
frame->nb_samples = subframes * 256;
both as 32-bit signed multiplications. When pkt->size is large enough
to make subframes >= 2^24, the second multiplication overflows the
signed int range and frame->nb_samples wraps to a small value.
ff_get_buffer() then sizes the audio plane for that wrapped sample
count, while the decoder loop at line 152 still iterates the full
(unwrapped) subframes count, performing a 1024-byte memcpy per
subframe per channel. The 27th iteration (or first iteration with
nb_samples=0) writes one byte past the per-plane allocation,
yielding the ASan heap-buffer-overflow WRITE at libavcodec/fastaudio
.c:171 reported as ANT-2026-03891.
Reject the subframes value whose *256 product would overflow before
performing the multiplication. The bound INT_MAX / 256 (= 8388607)
keeps the existing two's-complement semantics of every reachable
input and rejects only the configurations that would have wrapped.
Reproducer: a crafted AVI declaring one mono audio chunk of
671_088_680 bytes (sparse) with the decoder forced via
'ffmpeg -c:a fastaudio -i evil.avi'.

For glyphs whose source is already in bitmap form (color emoji fonts such
as NotoColorEmoji.ttf), FT_Glyph_To_Bitmap(..., destroy=0) returns the
input pointer unchanged. The result is that glyph->bglyph[idx] aliases
glyph->glyph (and analogously border_bglyph[t] may alias border_glyph).
glyph_enu_free then called FT_Done_Glyph on both, double-freeing the
underlying object.

ftp_connect() interpolates the URL path into SIZE/RETR/STOR/CWD/DELE/RMD/RNFR
commands without checking for CR/LF, although it already rejects CR/LF in the

`j == i` (the channel index) instead of `j == nb_buffers`. Once an earlier
channel shared a buffer, nb_buffers falls behind i and a genuinely new buffer is
never referenced, so it is freed while the output frame still points at it.

When extradata_size == 0, ff_rtp_send_aac() does `size -= 7` to skip the
ADTS header without checking size >= 7. A short packet makes size negative,
and the value is later passed to memcpy() as size_t, reading past the buffer
end. Bail out instead.
The vulnerable branch is not reached when using the built-in AAC encoder
(which always emits extradata), but an application that feeds raw
ADTS-stripped AAC packets through the libavformat RTP muxer can hit it. The
fix is a one-line lower-bound check and compiles/runs cleanly; see audit
PoC for the static analysis and reachable-by-API write-up.

generate_missing_ref walked frame->f->data[] until a NULL slot, which
on alpha-video frames extended to data[3] and read
sps->hshift[3]/vshift[3] out of bounds.
The alpha plane is produced by the alpha layer via
replace_alpha_plane; the base decoder path never reads or writes it.
Bound the fill loop by the SPS coded plane count. This both removes
the out-of-bounds shift access and avoids an unnecessary full-frame
memset of the alpha plane.

Reject INFO list chunks that are too small to contain the expected
4-byte list type field before calling ff_read_riff_info().
The parser subtracts 4 from the list size when handing the remaining
payload to ff_read_riff_info(). If the chunk is smaller than 4 bytes,
that underflows the expected structure and should be treated as invalid
input.

Reject AU header sections with a signaled length of zero in
rtp_parse_mp4_au().
The AU-headers-length field specifies the length in bits of the AU header
section that immediately follows. A zero-length section is not useful input
for this parser and can lead to invalid downstream state, so reject it

Negative -map processing iterates previously parsed stream map entries
and dereferences input_files[m->file_index]->ctx->streams[m->stream_index]
without validating that stream_index is in range.
A malformed earlier map can leave m->stream_index negative, which causes
an out-of-bounds read when a later negative map walks existing entries.
Check that stream_index is non-negative and below nb_streams before
calling stream_specifier_match().

Guard against empty string before reading the last byte in control_url.
When parsing relative a=control: paths, if no base control URL was set,
the code would access control_url[strlen(control_url)-1] which on an
empty string causes a size_t underflow and out-of-bounds read.

latm_parse_packet() accumulated attacker-controlled AU length bytes in
a signed int and later checked data->pos + cur_len against data->len.
That addition could overflow, allowing malformed packets to bypass the
bounds check and drive memcpy() far past the end of the LATM buffer.
Reject length-byte accumulation that would exceed the remaining packet
size, and compare cur_len against the remaining buffer space using
subtraction so the bounds check cannot overflow.

in mov_read_dops, `size` bytes is allocated for
`st->codecpar->extradata`, but ff_alloc_extradata doesn't memset, so the
contents of that buffer are just old heap data. If `avio_read` reads
fewer bytes than were requested, uninitialized data can still be left in
the extradata buffer, which is operated on by AV_WL16A and AV_WL32A.
I think the best solution here is to just check the read size and ensure
it's filling the extradata buffer in it's entirety, or erroring out if
there isn't enough data left.

rtsp_read_announce() treated any non-zero Content-Length as valid,
including negative values parsed via strtol(). This could send invalid
sizes into allocation, body reads and trailing NUL writes.
Accept only strictly positive SDP body lengths and reject invalid
Content-Length values with AVERROR_INVALIDDATA.

Multiple demuxers call avio_read() without checking its return
value. When input is truncated, destination buffers remain
uninitialized but are still used for offset calculations, memcmp,
and metadata handling. This results in undefined behavior
(detectable with Valgrind/MSan).
Fix this by checking the return value of avio_read() in:
- dss.c: dss_read_seek() — check before using header buffer
- dtshddec.c: FILEINFO chunk — check before using value buffer
- mlvdec.c: check_file_header() — check before memcmp on version

The return value of read_diff_float_data() was previously ignored,
allowing decode to continue silently with partially transformed samples
on malformed floating ALS input. Check and propagate the error.
All failure paths in read_diff_float_data() already return
AVERROR_INVALIDDATA, so the caller fix is sufficient without
any normalization inside the function.

The loop condition in the DEFINE_REMAP macro:
stereo < 1 + s->out_stereo > STEREO_2D
is parsed by C as:
(stereo < (1 + s->out_stereo)) > STEREO_2D
Since STEREO_2D is 0 and relational operators return 0 or 1, the
outer comparison against 0 is a no-op for STEREO_2D and STEREO_SBS.
But for STEREO_TB (value 2) the loop runs 3 iterations instead of 2,
producing an out-of-bounds stereo pass.
Add parentheses so the comparison is evaluated first:
stereo < 1 + (s->out_stereo > STEREO_2D)
This gives 1 iteration for 2D and 2 for any stereo format (SBS or TB),
matching the actual number of stereo views.

sscanf() returns EOF (-1) on input failure, which is non-zero and
passes a bare truthy check. When this happens, the %n directive is
never processed, so len stays uninitialized. Using that value to
advance the arg pointer causes an out-of-bounds read and crash.
Check for >= 1 instead, matching the fix applied to the other
sscanf() call in init() by commit b5b6391d64.

pmt_cb() passes mp4_descr + mp4_descr_count as the output base but
MAX_MP4_DESCR_COUNT (16) as the capacity, not the remaining capacity.
init_MP4DescrParseContext() resets d->descr_count to 0 on every call,
so the bounds check at parse_MP4ESDescrTag compares a fresh 0 against
16 regardless of the shifted base.
A PMT with two IOD descriptors of 16 ESDescrs each will crash. The first
fills the buffer mp4_descr[0..15], and then the second writes
mp4_descr[16..31] -- 1152 bytes past the end of the stack.
This change passes the remaining capacity instead of always passing 16.
The writeback in mp4_read_iods is incremented so the caller's running
count is preserved.

An H.264 picture with 65536 slices makes slice_num collide with the
slice_table sentinel. slice_table is uint16_t, initialized via
memset(..., -1, ...) so spare entries (one per row, mb_stride =
mb_width + 1) stay 0xFFFF. slice_num is an uncapped ++h->current_slice.
At slice 65535 the collision makes slice_table[spare] == slice_num
pass, defeating the deblock_topleft check in xchg_mb_border and the
top_type zeroing in fill_decode_caches.
With both guards bypassed at mb_x = 0, top_borders[top_idx][-1]
underflows 96 bytes and XCHG writes at -88 below the allocation
(plus -72 and -56 for chroma in the non-444 path).

There's a possibility here with a well-crafted MP4 file containing only
the nested boxes in order: MOOV.TRAK.MDIA.MINF.STBL.SDTP where the
header size uses the 64 bit large size, and the ending stdp box has some
size value >= 0x100000014.
On a 32 bit build of ffmpeg, av_malloc's size parameter drops the high
order bits of `entries`, and and the allocation is now a controlled size
that is significantly smaller than `entries`. The following loop will
then write off the ended of allocated memory with data that follows the
box fourcc.

rtmpproto converts listen_timeout to milliseconds by multiplying it
by 1000 before passing it to TCP. However, negative values are special
sentinels (e.g., -1 for infinite wait) and should not be multiplied.
This worked prior to commit 49c6e6cc44 because there was no range
validation. Since that commit, ff_parse_opts_from_query_string
validates option values against their declared ranges, causing these
multiplied negative values to fail.

A new Sequence Header or a Temporal Delimiter OBU invalidate any previous frame

When luma init switched to cascade the chroma init was skiped

Reset `sc->stsd_count` before parsing entries. This number doesn't get

The `sub_packet` index in `QDM2Context` was not reset to 0 when
`qdm2_decode_frame` started processing a new packet. If an error
occurred during the decoding of a previous packet, `sub_packet` would
retain a non-zero value.
In subsequent calls to `qdm2_decode_frame` with a new packet, this
non-zero `sub_packet` value caused `qdm2_decode` to skip
`qdm2_decode_super_block`. This function is responsible for initializing
packet lists with pointers to the current packet's data. Skipping it led
to the use of stale pointers from the previous (freed) packet, resulting
in a heap-use-after-free vulnerability.
This patch explicitly resets `s->sub_packet = 0` at the beginning of
`qdm2_decode_frame`, ensuring correct initialization for each new
packet.

Since af97c9865f,
the return value of avio_read() has been compared against
an uint32_t, so that the int is promoted to uint32_t for
the comparison (on common systems with 32bit ints). The upshot was
that errors returned from avio_read() were ignored, so that
the buffer could be uninitialized on success.
Fix this by using ffio_read_size() instead.

Not entirely sure if it should instead use some entirely different
approach here, given that images exceeding 2GB don't seem that crazy
to me, but so far processing such images results in a heap overflow,
since the size addition overflows and a much too small packet is
allocated and its size never checked again when writing into it.

update the switch statement for EXR_UINT in pxr24_uncompress to
correctly use the tile width td->xsize instead of using the full window
width s->xdelta. s->delta is larger than td->xsize which lead to two

MATCH_PER_STREAM_OPT iterates over all options of a given
OptionDef and tests whether they apply to the current stream;
if so, they are set to ost->apad, otherwise, the code errors
out. If no error happens, ost->apad is av_strdup'ed in order
to take ownership of this pointer.
But this means that setting it originally was premature,
as it leads to double-frees when an error happens lateron.
This can simply be reproduced with
ffmpeg -filter_complex anullsrc -apad bar -apad:n baz -f null -
This is a regression since 83ace80bfd.
Fix this by using a temporary variable instead of directly
setting ost->apad. Also only strdup the string if it actually
is != NULL.

When using the AAC Main profile, n_filt = 3, and slant is by
default 2 (normal long frames), g can go above 1.
en is the evolution of energy in the frequency domain for every
band at the given window. E.g. whether the energy is concentrated
at the top of each band, or the bottom.
For 2-pole filters, its straightforward.
For 3-pole filters, we need more than 2 measurements.
This commit properly implements support for 3-pole filters, by measuring
the band energy across three areas.
Do note that even xHE-AAC caps n_filt to 2, and only AAC Main allows
n_filt == 3.

- proper pts for packets. leaving it blank leaves it up for guessing,
but the guess doesn't take seeking into account, causing weirdness.
- clamp to 0 when seeking to negative ts. libopenmpt docs are unclear on
this but not doing this causes an immediate EOF when seeking backwards
to the beginning in mpv.
- only set song duration and packet pts when they are non-negative and
in int64 range. NaNs count as out of range. this isn't a fix for any
specific issue but might be helpful still, and shouldn't break
anything.

Apparently files with milliseconds exist in the wild. And since it cost
nothing to support arbitrary number of digits, extend format to support
that.
Depending on number of digits, the time base of fractional part is
changing. Most LRCs use 2 digits and centiseconds base, but subs with 3
digits and miliseconds exist too.
Set internal time base to AV_TIME_BASE, which in parcitice allows to
hold microseconds with 6 digits. Totally artificial, but who knows maybe
someone wants that.

Dithering relies on a 8 line dithering table and the code always uses it from
the beginning. So in order to make dithering independent from height of the
slices used we must enforce a 8 line alignment.

After having created the AVBuffer that is put into frame->buf[0],
ownership of several objects (namely an AVDRMFrameDescriptor,
an MppFrame and some AVBufferRefs framecontextref and decoder_ref)
has passed to the AVBuffer and therefore to the frame.
Yet it has nevertheless been freed manually on error
afterwards, which would lead to a double-free as soon
as the AVFrame is unreferenced.

When decoding a bitstream with weighted-bipred enabled,
the results on ARM and x86 platforms may differ.
The reason for the inconsistency is that the value of
STRIDE_ALIGN differs between platforms. And STRIDE_ALIGN
is set to the buffer stride of temporary buffers for U
and V components in mc_part_weighted.
If the buffer stride is 32 or 64 (as on x86 platforms),
the U and V pixels can be interleaved row by row without
overlapping, resulting in correct output.
However, on ARM platforms where the stride is 16,
the V component did overwrite part of the U component's pixels,
leading to incorrect predicted pixels.
The bug can be reproduced by the following bitstream.

t_info.keyframe_granule_shift is set to the library default of 6, which is ok
for gop sizes up to 63. Since there's apparently no way to query the updated
value after having forced a gop value with TH_ENCCTL_SET_KEYFRAME_FREQUENCY_FORCE,
calculate it manually instead.

The change has caused regressions for many users and consumers.
Playlist reloads only happen when a playlist doesn't indicate that it
has ended (via #EXT-X-ENDLIST), which means that the addition of future
segments is still expected.
It is well possible that an HLS server is temporarily unable to serve
further segments but resumes after some time, either indicating a
discontinuity or even by fully catching up.
With a segment length of 3s, a max_reload value of 1000 corresponds to
a duration of 50 minutes which appears to be a reasonable default.

The current logic for detecting frames that are too small for the
algorithm does not account for chroma sub-sampling, and so a sample
where the luma plane is large enough, but the chroma planes are not
will not be rejected. In that event, a heap overflow will occur.
This change adjusts the logic to consider the chroma planes and makes
the change to all three bwdif implementations.

Codec probing was primarily added to the wav demuxer to support DTS-in-wav
files, but DTS probing functions return AVPROBE_SCORE_EXTENSION+1, so we can be
a bit more strict with the required score.
This fixes MP3 misdetections for some wav files.

Traditionally, macOS has shipped an old version of rsync that lacked
support for this option, hence this check (added in
a8b3f0c5cf).
However, in macOS 15.x, Apple have switched to providing rsync as a
different tool, openrsync. The version of openrsync in at least
macOS 15.2 does include "[--contimeout]" (note the lack of "=" after
the option), in the output of "rsync --help", but when used, the tool
errors out with "rsync: --contimeout=60: unknown option". So apparently
the tool erroenously lists the option as supported, while it really
isn't.
The original rsync tool (with a new enough version) prints
"--contimeout=SECONDS" in the output of "rsync --help".
It is unclear which version of openrsync Apple are shipping; the latest
upstream openrsync from OpenBSD does support the option and includes
"[--contimeout=seconds]" in the output of "--help", and older versions
don't seem to include the option as listed at all.
Therefore, check for "--conntimeout=" with the "=", this should
properly detect both new enough rsync and openrsync.
This fixes running "fate-rsync" on macOS 15.x.

When running the cleanup in rtmp_close on failures in rtmp_open,
we can in rare cases end up using rt->playpath, assuming that it
is still set.
The crash could happen if we hit the fail codepath in rtmp_open
while publishing (rt->is_input == 0) with rt->state set to
a value > STATE_FCPUBLISH.
This would normally not happen while publishing; either we have
an error (and rt->state <= STATE_FCPUBLISH) or we reach
rt->state = STATE_PUBLISHING, and then we also return successfully
from rtmp_open.
The unexpected combination of states could happen if the server
responds with e.g. "NetStream.Play.Stop" while expecting
"NetStream.Publish.Start"; this sets rt->state to STATE_STOPPED,
which also fulfills the condition "> STATE_FCPUBLISH".
We don't need to free the rt->playpath/tcurl/flashver strings here;
they're handled via AVOption, and thus are freed automatically when
the protocol instance is freed (that's why they aren't freed
manually within the rtmp_close function either).
We also don't need to free the AVDictionary with options; it's
owned by the caller.
A smaller fix would be to just call rtmp_close before freeing
the strings and dictionary, but as we don't need to free them
at all, let's remove that redundant code.

The arm/aarch64 horizontal filter reads one additional pixel beyond what
the filter uses. This can become an issue if the application does not
allocate larger buffers than what's required for the pixel data. If the
motion vector points to the bottom right edge of the picture this
becomes a read buffer overflow. This triggers segfaults in Firefox for
video resolutions which result in a page aligned picture size like
1280x640.
Prevent this by using emulated edge in this case.

This reduces the amount the horizontal filters read beyond the filter
width to a consistent 1 pixel. The data is not used so this is usually
not noticeable. It becomes a problem when the application allocates
frame buffers only for the aligned picture size and the end of it is at
a page boundary. This happens for picture sizes which are a multiple of
the page size like 1280x640. The frame buffer allocation is based on
its most likely done via mmap + MAP_ANONYMOUS so start and end of the
buffer are page aligned and the previous and next page are not
necessarily mapped.
This mirrors the aarch64 change.

The logic did not follow the documented behaviour and that caused skipping of
some audio in the loop and in the leftover buffer.
Example command line which should produce a smooth sine wave for the whole
duration of the output:
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i "sine=r=48000:f=480:d=4" -af "aloop=loop=4:start=48000:size=48000" out.wav

If the audio loop stops inside an audio frame, the leftover buffer contains the
end of the frame, which is not looped. The length supposed to be the part which
was not written to the loop buffer, so we need to drain exactly that number of
bytes from the leftover buffer.

x265 added support for alpha starting with build 210.
While doing so, x265_encoder_encode() changed its fifth arg to
an array of pointers to x265_picture. This broke building lavc/libx265.c
This patch simply unbreaks the build and maintains existing single-layer
non-alpha encoding support.

Without resetting it, if there was a previous set of varstreams with
subtitles, it would subtract from all the streams, leading to chaos and
segfaults when trying to access for example stream -1.
The snow encoder uses block based motion estimation which can read out of array if
insufficient alignment is used
It may be better to only apply this for the encoder, as it would safe a few bytes of memory
for the decoder. Until then, this fixes the issue in a simple way.

It seems reply1 is initialized by ff_rtsp_send_cmd() in most cases but there
are code paths like "continue" which look like they could skip it but even if not
writing this so a complex loop after several layers of calls initialized a local
variable through a pointer is just bad design.
This patch simply initialized the variable.

The spec allows at least thirty-two zero bits followed by a one to mean
2^32-1, with no constraint on the number of zeroes. The libaom
reference decoder does not match this, instead reading thirty-two zeroes
but not the following one to mean 2^32-1. These two interpretations are
incompatible and other implementations may follow one or the other.
Therefore reject thirty-two zeroes because the intended behaviour is not
clear.

Fixes ffplay playback of unknown layouts, when SDL directly supports the audio
format, such as:
ffplay -f lavfi anullsrc=cl=2C,aformat=s16
Without the patch, "Channel layout change is not supported" errors are
generated because buffersrc (unknown 2 channel) and buffersink (stereo)
negotiated a stereo layout, but the stereo layout was never stored in the
BufferSourceContext.
This fixes a regression of 7251f90972, but this
is more of a regression of the avfilter channel layout conversion
(1f96db959c).

The VP9 spec defines a SmDm box for this information, and the ISOBMFF spec defines a
mdvc one. If both are present, just ignore one of them.
This is in line with clli and CoLL boxes.

Depending on input chunk size noticable corrpution was hearable, here is an
example command line:

By using AnyType for resolving a strong reference we searched among all types,
not just the ones which can be the target of the reference, which in some cases
caused to find the wrong type, if the metadata set UUIDs were not unique.
UUIDs do not have to be unique if their type sets them apart, SMPTE 377M says:
> StrongRef: 'One to One’ relationship between sets and implemented in MXF
> with UUIDs. Strong References are typed which means that the definition
> identifies the kind of set which is the target of the reference.

The channel designation metadata should not override the number of channels.
Let's warn the user if it is inconsistent, and keep the channel layout
unspecified.
Before the conversion to the channel layout API the code only set the mask, but
never overridden the channel count, so this restores the old behaviour.

Existing code could have caused wrong channel order signalling or reduced
channel count if a channel designation appeared multiple times. This is
actually an old bug, but the conversion to the new channel layout API made it
visible, because now the code overrides the proper channel count with the one
calculated from the mask.

Ensure all hwaccels that allocate a buffer use NVDECContext->bitstream_internal
instead. Otherwise, if FFHWAccel->end_frame() isn't called before
FFHWAccel->uninit(), an attempt to free a stale pointer to memory not owned by
the hwaccel could take place.

Texinfo 7.0 produces quite different HTML to Texinfo 6.8. Without
this change, enumerated option flags (i.e. Possible values of x
are...) render as white text on a white background with Texinfo 7.0
and are unreadable. This change removes a style for the selector
`.table .table` which causes the background to turn white for these
elements. As far as I can tell, it is not actually used anywhere in
files generated by Texinfo 6.8.

Resolves trac ticket #10636 (http://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/10636).
Texinfo 7.0, released in November 2022, changed the names of various
functions. Compiling docs with Texinfo 7.0 resulted in warnings and
improperly formatted documentation. More old names appear to have
been removed in Texinfo 7.1, released October 2023, which causes docs
compilation to fail.
This commit addresses the issue by adding logic to switch between the old
and new function names depending on the Texinfo version. Texinfo 6.8
produces identical documentation before and after the patch.

The 1000 did result in the appearance of a never ending reload loop
The RFC mandates that "If the client reloads a Playlist file and finds that it has not
changed, then it MUST wait for a period of one-half the target
duration before retrying." and if it has changed
"the client MUST wait for at least the target duration before attempting to reload the
Playlist file again"
Trying to reload 3 times seems a better default than 1000 given these
durations

jpeg2000 overrides the global lowres variable with a lowres field called reduction_factor
ffmpeg -lowres X causes the reduction_factor to be set
ffplay -lowres X causes both lowres and the reduction_factor to be set
ossfuss sets only lowres
only the ffmpeg variant works. This patch tries to make the other 2 work.
Alternative we could just error out if things are inconsistent.
More complex restructuring should be limited to the master branch
to keep this reasonably easy to backport

Enable the checked bitreader to avoid overread.
Also add a few checks in loops and between blocks so we exit instead of continued
execution.
Alternatively we could add manual checks so that no overread can happen. This would be
slightly faster but a bit more work and a bit more fragile

Clang's static analyzer complains that leaving the variable
uninitialized could lead to a code path where the uninitialized value is
written to at the end of this function.
This patch simply zero-initializes that variable to avoid that.

Generally if maxrate is set, the calculation should be maxrate over
bufsize. This additionally enables CRF + maxrate & bufsize usage.
In order to keep negative values from enabling zero to be treated
as larger and causing a division by zero, check that one of the
variables is larger than zero.
maximum_buffer_size_ms should only be set if both are specified or if
the user sets it through -svtav1-params buf-sz=val

compressed_ten_bit_format has been deprecated upstream and has no effect
and can be removed. Plus, technically it was never used in the first place
since it would require the app (ffmpeg) to set it and do additional

Same principle as previous commit, with sufficiently huge rgb2yuv table
values this produces wrong results and undefined behavior.
The unsigned produces the same incorrect results. That is probably
ok as these cases with huge values seem not to occur in any real
use case.

They're not currently used, so they don't need to be there.
Vulkan stabilized the decode extensions less than a week ago, and their
name prefixes were changed from EXT to KHR. It's a bit too soon to be
depending on it, so rather than bumping, just remove these for now.

Gamma 2.2 and Gamma 2.8 are tagged in the file as 0.45455 and 0.35714,
respectively (i.e. 1/2.2 and 1/2.8). Trying to identify them as 2.2 and
2.8 instead of these values will cause the transfer function to not
properly be recognized. This patch fixes this.

Treat the 32 bit stride registers as signed.
Alternatively, we could make the stride arguments ptrdiff_t instead
of int, and changing all of the assembly to operate on these
registers with their full 64 bit width, but that's a much larger
and more intrusive change (and risks missing some operation, which
would clamp the intermediates to 32 bit still).

The order in which the channels are coded in the bitstream do not always follow
the native, bitmask-based order of channels both signaled by the WAV container
and forced by this same decoder. This is the case with layouts containing an
LFE channel, as it's always coded last.

Bayer sources are read in groups of 2 lines (e.g. for a
BGGR flavor, the first row contains only B and G samples,
while the second row contains only G and R samples). They

This fixes a regression from commit 36117968ad.
wrapped_url_read() used to be able to return positive number from
ffurl_read(). It relies on the result to check if EOF is reached in
async_buffer_task().
But FIFO callbacks must return 0 on success. This should be handled
in ring_write() instead.

Use the stream duration as last resort, as an off-by-one result of the
"st->duration / (caf->packets - 1)" calculation can break playback on some
devices.
Also, don't write the sample_rate value propagated by encoders like libopus.
The sample rate of the audio fed to it is irrelevant after being encoded.

In case a SupplementalProperty node exists in an adaptationset,
it is searched for a "schemeIdUri" property via xmlGetProp().
Whatever xmlGetProp() returns is then compared via av_strcasecmp()
to a string literal. xmlGetProp() can return NULL, namely in case
no "schemeIdUri" exists and (given that this string is allocated)
presumably also on allocation failure. No check for NULL is done,
so this may crash.
Furthermore, the string returned by xmlGetProp() needs to be freed
with xmlFree(), but this is not done either.
This commit fixes both of these issues; they existed since this code
has been added in 10d008f0fd.
This has been found while investigating ticket #9697. The continuous
leaks might very well be the reason behind the observed slowdown.

The opaque parameter for the callback is set in videotoolbox_start(),
called when the hwaccel is initialized. When frame threading is used,
avctx will be the context corresponding to the frame thread currently
doing the decoding. Using this same codec context in all subsequent
invocations of the decoder callback (even those triggered by a different
frame thread) is unsafe, and broken after
cc867f2c09, since each frame thread now
cleans up its hwaccel state after decoding each frame.
Fix this by passing hwaccel_priv_data as the opaque parameter, which
exists in a single instance forwarded between all frame threads.
The only other use of AVCodecContext in the decoder output callback is
as a logging context. For this purpose, store a logging context in
hwaccel_priv_data.

When compiling FFmpeg with GCC-9, some very random segfaults were
observed in code which had previously called down into the SBC encoder
NEON assembly routines. This was caused by these functions clobbering
some of the vfp callee saved registers (d8 - d15 aka q4 - q7). GCC was
using these registers to save local variables, but after these
functions returned, they would contain garbage.
Fix by reallocating the registers in the two affected functions in
the following way:
ff_sbc_analyze_4_neon: q2-q5 => q8-q11, then q1-q4 => q8-q11
ff_sbc_analyze_8_neon: q2-q9 => q8-q15
The reason for using these replacements is to keep closely related
sets of registers consecutively numbered which hopefully makes the
code more easy to follow. Since this commit only reallocates
registers, it should have no performance impact.

Instead of the potentially adjusted ones. Otherwise, if config_props() is
called again and if using force_original_aspect_ratio, the already adjusted
values could be altered again.

APNG works with a single reference frame and an output frame.
According to the spec, decoding APNG works by decoding
the current IDAT/fdAT chunks (which decodes to a rectangular
subregion of the whole image region), followed by either
overwriting the region of the output frame with the newly
decoded data or by blending the newly decoded data with
the data from the reference frame onto the current subregion
of the output frame. The remainder of the output frame
is just copied from the reference frame.
Then the reference frame might be left untouched
(APNG_DISPOSE_OP_PREVIOUS), it might be replaced by the output
frame (APNG_DISPOSE_OP_NONE) or the rectangular subregion
corresponding to the just decoded frame has to be reset
to black (APNG_DISPOSE_OP_BACKGROUND).
The latter case is not handled correctly by our decoder:
It only performs resetting the rectangle in the reference frame
when decoding the next frame; and since commit
b593abda6c it does not reset
the reference frame permanently, but only temporarily (i.e.
it only affects decoding the frame after the frame with
APNG_DISPOSE_OP_BACKGROUND). This is a problem if the
frame after the APNG_DISPOSE_OP_BACKGROUND frame uses
APNG_DISPOSE_OP_PREVIOUS, because then the frame after
the APNG_DISPOSE_OP_PREVIOUS frame has an incorrect reference
frame. (If it is not followed by an APNG_DISPOSE_OP_PREVIOUS
frame, the decoder only keeps a reference to the output frame,
which is ok.)
This commit fixes this by being much closer to the spec
than the earlier code: Resetting the background is no longer
postponed until the next frame; instead it is applied to
the reference frame.

There's no warranty that vpx_codec_encode() will generate a list with the same
amount of packets for both the yuv planes encoder and the alpha plane encoder,
so queueing packets based on what the main encoder returns will fail when the
amount of packets in both lists differ.
Queue all data packets for every vpx_codec_encode() call from both encoders
before attempting to assemble output AVPackets out of them.

c11fb46731 led to a regression whereby the return code for missing
input or input probe is overridden by writer close return code and
hence not conveyed in the exit code.
A gateway can see everything, and we should not be shipping a hardcoded
default from a third party company; it's a security risk.

The output file (even the filesize) of the recently added
EXR tests depends on the endianness; therefore checksums
of these files must not be part of the ref file. Therefore
this commit adds an option (unused for now) to disable these
checksums on a per-test basis.
In order to avoid having to check twice, the checksum and
the filesize info are moved to immediately follow one another;
this results into updates to the ref files of all lavf-image tests.

According to API docs avdevice_list_devices(), avdevice_list_input_sources()
and avdevice_list_input_sinks() should return the number of autodetected
devices on success. This is redundant with AVDeviceInfoList->nb_devices so it
was not noticed earlier that none of the underlying device list functions work
like that.
Let's fix it in generic code to make it in line with the API docs.

This is a per-file input option that adjusts an input's timestamps
with reference to another input, so that emitted packet timestamps
account for the difference between the start times of the two inputs.
Typical use case is to sync two or more live inputs such as from capture
devices. Both the target and reference input source timestamps should be
based on the same clock source.
If either input lacks starting timestamps, then no sync adjustment is made.
