This function overreads the input plane for odd dimensions, because the
chroma plane is always rounded up, which means (xy << subsample) + 1 exceeds
the actual alpha plane size.

Right now it is possible for the pointer for the current frame to
be set in the context even when it could not be properly set up;
this does not influence the ordinary ref frames, but only
VP8Context.prev_frame. And since this code has been ported to the
ProgressFrame API in d48d7bc434,
this leads to segfaults, because the ProgressFrame API is less
forgiving than the ThreadFrame API (waiting on an uninitialized
ProgressFrame segfaults, waiting on an uninitialized ThreadFrame
is a no-op (the code behaves as if frame-threading is not in use)).
Fix this by maintaining the consistency of the frame pointers
in the context (by setting them later).

uyvytoyuv422 converts packed UYVY, whose macroblocks are pixel pairs, and
the SIMD code only handled even widths. On an odd width the trailing half
macroblock made the kernel write past the end of the Y/U/V destinations:
the AVX512ICL masked tail dropped the odd pixel and the fall-through
re-entered the SIMD loop, writing a full mmsize*2 chunk past the planes
(127 bytes of Y, 63 of U and 63 of V); the sse2/avx/avx2 scalar tail
wrote one byte past the Y plane.
Process only whole pairs and emit the trailing odd column from a small
per-row epilogue that matches uyvytoyuv422_c (ydst[w-1] = src[2w-1],
udst[cw-1] = src[2w-2], vdst[cw-1] = src[2w]).
All four SIMD variants are now bit-exact with the C reference for even and
odd widths and no longer overwrite the destination. Verified on AVX512ICL
hardware (Ryzen 9 9950X) with checkasm.

get_dc() divides the accumulated, OBMC-weighted DC by aa, the sum of the
squared OBMC weights taken over the in-plane pixels. When an OBMC block
falls entirely outside the plane - e.g. a tiny chroma plane after mcdeint
splits a frame into fields - no pixel contributes, aa stays 0 and the
ROUNDED_DIV() divides by zero (SIGFPE). ab is 0 in exactly the same case,
so the result degenerates to 0; return it directly.
Reproducible with the GPL mcdeint filter in slow/extra_slow mode, e.g.
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc=s=128x2 -vf mcdeint=mode=slow -f null -
Add a self-contained lavfi-based FATE regression test for the slow mode,
which previously crashed and is therefore not covered by the existing
sample-based fast/medium tests.

For an edge block, get_block_rd() copies the full-OBMC-weight central
region directly from cur[] into the reconstruction. It moved one
boundary to block_w/block_h but overwrote the in-plane clip (x0/x1/y0/y1
computed earlier from the plane size) instead of intersecting with it.
When a plane is narrower than block_w - e.g. a tiny field/chroma plane
produced by the mcdeint filter - the right-edge case left x0 = block_w
while x1 stayed clipped to w - sx < block_w, so x1 - x0 became negative
and was passed to memcpy() as a huge size_t, crashing with SIGSEGV.
Intersect the moved boundaries with the existing clip so the copy region
stays inside the plane and the memcpy length can never be negative.
Reproducible with the GPL mcdeint filter in slow/extra_slow mode, e.g.
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc=s=5x32 -vf mcdeint=mode=slow -f null -
This is a separate crash from the get_dc() SIGFPE (ticket #7779) reached
through the same iterative_me() path. Add a lavfi-based FATE regression
test.

The resample asm code as it is currently handles 1 sample at a time
The asm code should be redesigned and handle more than 1 sample at a
time. That is the whole purpose of SIMD. There is also multiple samples
available that need identical handling like from several channels or
similar handling from other points in time.
Such redesign would make the resampler faster and would change the
requirements of padding and maybe memory layout. So it seems simpler
to just avoid overwriting in the asm as it is today than to have
the allocation handle specific overallocation for asm code that
ideally should be redesigned

Fix two buffer overreads in the PowerPC yuv2planeX SIMD paths
that cause daily FATE checkasm-sw_scale ASAN failures on both
ppc64 (G5, altivec) and ppc64le (POWER9, VSX):
1. VSX LOAD_FILTER: vec_vsx_ld(joffset, filter) reads 16 bytes
at the given byte offset. When joffset >= filterSize*2 - 14
(e.g. joffset=30 for filterSize=16), this reads up to 14 bytes
past the 32-byte filter array. Fix by replacing the vector
load with vec_splats(f[j]) which only reads the single int16_t
element needed (the result is splatted to all lanes anyway).
2. GET_LS look-ahead overread: yuv2planeX_8_16 calls
yuv2planeX_8 twice per filter tap. Each call's GET_LS macro
speculatively loads the next 16-byte vector for pipelining.
On the second call, this look-ahead reads 16 bytes past the
last valid source element. Fix by tightening the SIMD loop
bound from (dstW - 15) to (dstW - 23), ensuring the farthest
speculative load stays within src[j][0..dstW-1]. The scalar
fallback handles the remaining 16-23 trailing pixels.
The ASAN reports from FATE:
ppc64 (altivec): stack-buffer-overflow in yuv2planeX_8_16_altivec
at swscale_ppc_template.c:56
ppc64le (VSX): unknown-crash in yuv2planeX_8_16_vsx

fastaudio_decode() computes
subframes = pkt->size / (40 * channels);
frame->nb_samples = subframes * 256;
both as 32-bit signed multiplications. When pkt->size is large enough
to make subframes >= 2^24, the second multiplication overflows the
signed int range and frame->nb_samples wraps to a small value.
ff_get_buffer() then sizes the audio plane for that wrapped sample
count, while the decoder loop at line 152 still iterates the full
(unwrapped) subframes count, performing a 1024-byte memcpy per
subframe per channel. The 27th iteration (or first iteration with
nb_samples=0) writes one byte past the per-plane allocation,
yielding the ASan heap-buffer-overflow WRITE at libavcodec/fastaudio
.c:171 reported as ANT-2026-03891.
Reject the subframes value whose *256 product would overflow before
performing the multiplication. The bound INT_MAX / 256 (= 8388607)
keeps the existing two's-complement semantics of every reachable
input and rejects only the configurations that would have wrapped.

In the >= 9 bit path, color_frame() does
`av_memcpy_backptr(dst + 2, 2, bytes - 2)`. When the effective chroma width
is 1 pixel (bytes == 1) the count becomes -1 and the underlying fill16()
loop runs roughly 2^32 times, producing a heap overflow. The original count
was also wrong in units (pixels rather than bytes); fix that at the same
time so the 2-pixel case still fills both pixels.
Confirmed via a standalone harness reproducing av_memcpy_backptr's fill16
loop with cnt = -1; reaching the call from a crafted H.264 bitstream
requires Hi10P plus a frame_num gap on a frame whose effective chroma width
is 1 pixel, which is hard to express but is reachable via mid-stream SPS
changes. Compiles cleanly; no regressions seen running existing crafted
H.264 PoCs and trivial transcodes.

When extradata_size == 0, ff_rtp_send_aac() does `size -= 7` to skip the
ADTS header without checking size >= 7. A short packet makes size negative,
and the value is later passed to memcpy() as size_t, reading past the buffer
end. Bail out instead.
The vulnerable branch is not reached when using the built-in AAC encoder
(which always emits extradata), but an application that feeds raw
ADTS-stripped AAC packets through the libavformat RTP muxer can hit it. The
fix is a one-line lower-bound check and compiles/runs cleanly; see audit

MinQtLog2SizeIntraC is usually (eq. (51) from VVCv3) defined as
sps_log2_diff_min_qt_min_cb_intra_slice_chroma + MinCbLog2SizeY
However, in the case ph_log2_diff_min_qt_min_cb_intra_slice_chroma is
present, it is instead (eq. (83) from VVCv3) defined as
ph_log2_diff_min_qt_min_cb_intra_slice_chroma + MinCbLog2SizeY
When ph_log2_diff_max_bt_min_qt_intra_slice_chroma and
ph_log2_diff_max_tt_min_qt_intra_slice_chroma are present, so is
ph_log2_diff_min_qt_min_cb_intra_slice_chroma, and so we should use the
second definition of MinQtLog2SizeIntraC, rather than the first, when
calculating the bounds for these syntax elements.

In the picture header parser, the chroma branch incorrectly tested
sps_max_mtt_hierarchy_depth_intra_slice_chroma to decide whether to
parse ph_log2_diff_max_{bt,tt}_min_qt_intra_slice_chroma.
Per ITU-T H.266 (V4, 01/2026) section 7.3.2.8 "Picture header
structure syntax", the condition is on the just-parsed
ph_max_mtt_hierarchy_depth_intra_slice_chroma, exactly mirroring the
luma branch a few lines above and the inter-slice branch below.
sps_partition_constraints_override_enabled_flag allows the picture
header to override the SPS values, so testing the SPS field is
incorrect and desynchronises the parser whenever the PH override
changes the chroma MTT depth from/to zero.

Consider the following sequence of NALUs (with some PPSs etc. omitted
for brevity):
1. SPS (ID=0, content=A)
2. IDR (SPS=0)
3. IDR (SPS=0)
4. SPS (ID=0, content=B)
5. TRAIL (SPS=0)
When decode_sps is called for NALU 3., ps->sps_id_used is cleared as
IDRs are one way of forming a CLVSS. Then, old_sps is non-NULL
containing the result of calling decode_sps for NALU 2. We haven't
received any SPSs between NALUs 2. and 3., therefore old_sps and rsps
are identical and the function returns. The issue is that, at this
point, ps->sps_id_used is still zero despite the SPS being used for IDR
3. This results in the check for conflicting SPSs not working properly
when decode_sps is called for NALU 5., allowing prediction between
pictures with different SPSs and probably all sorts of other
shenanigans.
Patch addresses the problem outlined above by also setting
ps->sps_id_used in the early return case.

In d5dbcc00d8, it was hoped that detection
of subpicture overlaps could be performed at the tile level, so as to
avoid introducing per-CTU checks. Unfortunately since that patch,
fuzzing has indicated there are some structures involving
pps_subpic_one_or_more_tiles_slice where tile-level checking is not
sufficient. Performing the check at the CTU level should (touch wood)
be the be-all and and-all of this, as CTUs are the lowest common
denominator of the picture partitioning.

This is essentially a re-implementation of
https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/patch/20241005223955.54158-1-post@frankplowman.com/
That patch was not applied last time. Instead we opted to identify
issues which could be caused by invalid subpicture layouts and remedy
those issues where they manifest, either through error detection or code
hardening. This was primarily implemented in the set
https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/list/?series=13381.
This has worked to some degree, however issues with subpicture layouts
continue to crop up from the fuzzer and I've fixed a number of bugs
related to subpicture layouts since then. I think it's best to return
to the initial plan and simply check if the subpicture layout is valid
initially.
This implementation is also lighter than the first time -- by doing a
bit more logic in pps_subpic_less_than_one_tile_slice, we are able to
store a tile_in_subpic map rather than a ctu_in_subpic map. This
reduces the size of the map to the point it becomes possible to allocate
it on the stack. Similar to 8bd66a8c95,
the layout is also validated in the slice map construction code, rather
than in the CBS, which avoids duplicating some logic.

In the case pps_subpic_less_than_one_tile_slice is called, the
subpicture is smaller than the tile and so there are multiple
subpictures in the tile. Of course, then, not all the
subpictures can start in the top-left corner as the code before the
patch does. Patch fixes this, so each subpicture starts at the
signalled location as is specified in section 6.5.1 of H.266(V3).

In the fail: block of decode_nal_units, a check as to whether fc->ref is
nonzero is used. Before this patch, fc->ref was set to NULL in
frame_context_setup. The issue is that, by the time frame_context_setup
is called, falliable functions (namely slices_realloc and
ff_vvc_decode_frame_ps) have already been called. Therefore, there
could arise a situation in which the fc->ref test of decode_nal_units'
fail: block is performed while fc->ref has an invalid value. This seems
to be particularly prevalent in situations where the FrameContexts are
being reused. The patch resolves the issue by moving the assignment of
fc->ref to NULL to the very top of decode_nal_units, before any falliable
functions are called.

The criteria for slice structure validity is similar to that of
subpicture structure validity that we saw not too long ago [1].
The relationship between tiles and slices must satisfy the following
properties:
* Exhaustivity. All tiles in a picture must belong to a slice. The
tiles cover the picture, so this implies the slices must cover the
picture.
* Mutual exclusivity. No tile may belong to more than one slice, i.e.
slices may not overlap.
In most cases these properties are guaranteed by the syntax. There is
one noticable exception however: when pps_tile_idx_delta_present_flag is
equal to one, each slice is associated with a syntax element
pps_tile_idx_delta_val[i] which "specifies the difference between the
tile index of the tile containing the first CTU in the ( i + 1 )-th
rectangular slice and the tile index of the tile containing the first
CTU in the i-th rectangular slice" [2]. When these syntax elements are
present, the i-th slice can begin anywhere and the usual guarantees
provided by the syntax are lost.
The patch detects slice structures which violate either of the two
properties above, and are therefore invalid, while building the
slice map. Should the slice map be determined to be invalid, an
AVERROR_INVALIDDATA is returned. This prevents issues including
segmentation faults when trying to decode, invalid bitstreams.

celt_header() reads a uint32 `extra_headers` field from the CELT identification
header and stores `1 + extra_headers` into the signed int extra_headers_left.
With extra_headers = 0x7FFFFFFE this becomes INT_MAX and the OGG parser
consumes every subsequent page as a CELT "extra header" without ever reaching
audio data, hanging on any streaming input. A value of 0xFFFFFFFE wraps the
signed addition negative, with the same family of consequences.
Reject any extra_headers count above a small fixed cap (16, well above any
real CELT-over-Ogg stream).
Verified with the audit PoC (a crafted file plus an infinite-page FIFO):
without the patch, ffmpeg consumes pages forever; with the patch it logs
"Too many CELT extra headers (...)" and exits in ~70 ms with
AVERROR_INVALIDDATA.

Reject dimg entries with a zero reference count in mov_read_iref_dimg().
This is the earliest point where the parser learns how many input images
a derived HEIF item references, so it is the right place to enforce the
invariant.
If entries == 0 is accepted here, the value is stored in HEIFGrid.nb_tiles,
later propagated by read_image_iovl() into AVStreamGroupTileGrid.nb_tiles,
and finally consumed in istg_parse_tile_grid(), which assumes at least one
tile and reads tg->offsets[tg->nb_tiles - 1]. With zero tiles, that
assumption breaks and leads to the out-of-bounds access seen in ASan.
Fixing the problem at the parser boundary is preferable to adding a later
workaround because it prevents creation of an invalid derived-image state
and stops that malformed state from reaching downstream consumers.
This is also consistent with the HEIF specification. Both iovl and grid
derived images are formed from one or more input images, and for grid the
dimg reference count must equal rows * columns; since rows and columns are
encoded as *_minus_one + 1, that count cannot be zero. A zero dimg entry
count is therefore invalid input and should be rejected when parsed.

in mov_read_dops, `size` bytes is allocated for
`st->codecpar->extradata`, but ff_alloc_extradata doesn't memset, so the
contents of that buffer are just old heap data. If `avio_read` reads
fewer bytes than were requested, uninitialized data can still be left in
the extradata buffer, which is operated on by AV_WL16A and AV_WL32A.
I think the best solution here is to just check the read size and ensure
it's filling the extradata buffer in it's entirety, or erroring out if
there isn't enough data left.

The loop condition in the DEFINE_REMAP macro:
stereo < 1 + s->out_stereo > STEREO_2D
is parsed by C as:
(stereo < (1 + s->out_stereo)) > STEREO_2D
Since STEREO_2D is 0 and relational operators return 0 or 1, the
outer comparison against 0 is a no-op for STEREO_2D and STEREO_SBS.
But for STEREO_TB (value 2) the loop runs 3 iterations instead of 2,
producing an out-of-bounds stereo pass.
Add parentheses so the comparison is evaluated first:
stereo < 1 + (s->out_stereo > STEREO_2D)
This gives 1 iteration for 2D and 2 for any stereo format (SBS or TB),
matching the actual number of stereo views.

Replace abs() with FFABSU() to avoid undefined behavior when
raw_samples[c][i] == INT_MIN. Per libavutil/common.h, FFABS()
has the same INT_MIN UB as abs(); FFABSU() is the correct
helper as it casts to unsigned before negation.

sscanf() returns EOF (-1) on input failure, which is non-zero and
passes a bare truthy check. When this happens, the %n directive is
never processed, so len stays uninitialized. Using that value to
advance the arg pointer causes an out-of-bounds read and crash.
Check for >= 1 instead, matching the fix applied to the other
sscanf() call in init() by commit b5b6391d64.

pmt_cb() passes mp4_descr + mp4_descr_count as the output base but
MAX_MP4_DESCR_COUNT (16) as the capacity, not the remaining capacity.
init_MP4DescrParseContext() resets d->descr_count to 0 on every call,
so the bounds check at parse_MP4ESDescrTag compares a fresh 0 against
16 regardless of the shifted base.
A PMT with two IOD descriptors of 16 ESDescrs each will crash. The first
fills the buffer mp4_descr[0..15], and then the second writes
mp4_descr[16..31] -- 1152 bytes past the end of the stack.
This change passes the remaining capacity instead of always passing 16.
The writeback in mp4_read_iods is incremented so the caller's running
count is preserved.

Fixes ticket #22420.
When the first decoded frame is type 1, xan_decode_frame_type1() reads y_buffer as prior-frame state before any data has been written to it.
Since y_buffer is allocated with av_malloc(), this may propagate uninitialized heap data into the decoded luma output.
Allocate y_buffer with av_mallocz() instead.

An H.264 picture with 65536 slices makes slice_num collide with the
slice_table sentinel. slice_table is uint16_t, initialized via
memset(..., -1, ...) so spare entries (one per row, mb_stride =
mb_width + 1) stay 0xFFFF. slice_num is an uncapped ++h->current_slice.
At slice 65535 the collision makes slice_table[spare] == slice_num
pass, defeating the deblock_topleft check in xchg_mb_border and the
top_type zeroing in fill_decode_caches.
With both guards bypassed at mb_x = 0, top_borders[top_idx][-1]
underflows 96 bytes and XCHG writes at -88 below the allocation
(plus -72 and -56 for chroma in the non-444 path).

`spectrum_decode` currently executes Frequency Domain (FD) decoding steps
for all channels, regardless of their `core_mode`. When a channel is in
Linear Prediction Domain (LPD) mode (`core_mode == 1`), FD-specific
parameters such as scalefactor offsets (`sfo`) and individual channel
stream (`ics`) information are not parsed.
This causes a global-buffer-overflow in `dequant_scalefactors`. Because
`spectrum_scale` is called on LPD channels, it uses stale or
uninitialized `sfo` values to index `ff_aac_pow2sf_tab`. In the reported
crash, a stale `sfo` value of 240 resulted in an index of 440
(240 + POW_SF2_ZERO), exceeding the table's size of 428.
Fix this by ensuring `spectrum_scale` and `imdct_and_windowing` are only
called for channels where `core_mode == 0` (FD).

There's a possibility here with a well-crafted MP4 file containing only
the nested boxes in order: MOOV.TRAK.MDIA.MINF.STBL.SDTP where the
header size uses the 64 bit large size, and the ending stdp box has some
size value >= 0x100000014.
On a 32 bit build of ffmpeg, av_malloc's size parameter drops the high
order bits of `entries`, and and the allocation is now a controlled size
that is significantly smaller than `entries`. The following loop will
then write off the ended of allocated memory with data that follows the
box fourcc.

Why: the change is done to comply with lilv expectations of hosts.
Added call lilv_instance_activate in the config_output function to abide by lilv documentation that states it must be called before lilv_instance_run:
"This MUST be called before calling lilv_instance_run()" - documentation source (https://github.com/lv2/lilv/blob/main/include/lilv/lilv.h)
Added call lilv_instance_deactivate in the uninit function to abide by lv2 documentation:
"If a host calls activate(), it MUST call deactivate() at some point in the future" - documentation source (https://gitlab.com/lv2/lv2/-/blob/main/include/lv2/core/lv2.h)
Added instance_activated integer to LV2Context struct to track if instance was activated and only do lilv_instance_deactivate if was activated to abide by lv2 documentation:
"Hosts MUST NOT call deactivate() unless activate() was previously called." - documentation source (https://gitlab.com/lv2/lv2/-/blob/main/include/lv2/core/lv2.h)
Regarding the patcheck warning (possibly constant :instance_activated):
This is a false positive since the struct member is zero-initialized.

The ssrc option used AV_OPT_TYPE_INT with range [INT_MIN, INT_MAX],
but the underlying struct field is uint32_t and RFC 3550 defines SSRC
as a 32-bit identifier covering the full [0, UINT32_MAX] range. This
caused ffmpeg to reject any SSRC value above INT_MAX (~2.1 billion),
which is roughly half of all valid values.
The auto-generated fallback path (av_get_random_seed()) already
returns uint32_t and can produce values above INT_MAX, creating an
inconsistency where the automatic path succeeds but the explicit
-ssrc option rejects the same value.
Change the option to AV_OPT_TYPE_UINT with range [0, UINT32_MAX]
to match the field type and allow the full identifier space.

The `sub_packet` index in `QDM2Context` was not reset to 0 when
`qdm2_decode_frame` started processing a new packet. If an error
occurred during the decoding of a previous packet, `sub_packet` would
retain a non-zero value.
In subsequent calls to `qdm2_decode_frame` with a new packet, this
non-zero `sub_packet` value caused `qdm2_decode` to skip
`qdm2_decode_super_block`. This function is responsible for initializing
packet lists with pointers to the current packet's data. Skipping it led
to the use of stale pointers from the previous (freed) packet, resulting
in a heap-use-after-free vulnerability.
This patch explicitly resets `s->sub_packet = 0` at the beginning of
`qdm2_decode_frame`, ensuring correct initialization for each new
packet.

fix a simple index bug in ff_aac_usac_reset_state()
that writes past the end of ChannelElement.ch[2] for CPE
ff_aac_usac_reset_state() loops over channels with j < ch, but
incorrectly takes &che->ch[ch]. For CPE (ch == 2) this becomes
che->ch[2], which is one past the end of ChannelElement.ch[2], and the
subsequent memset() causes an intra-object out-of-bounds write.

Prior to the fix, in the case of a tile containing multiple slices
(pps_num_exp_slices_in_tile != 0) the number of slices was temporarily
allowed to exceed pps_num_slices_in_pic_minus1+1 and therefore
VVC_MAX_SLICES. The number of slices was later verified, but while the
current slice index was higher than expected it was used to write to a
array of size VVC_MAX_SLICES, leading to an OOB write.
To rectify this, the patch adds some checks at an earlier stage, to
ensure that the slice index i + j at no point exceeds
pps_num_slices_in_pic_minus1.

Since af97c9865f,
the return value of avio_read() has been compared against
an uint32_t, so that the int is promoted to uint32_t for
the comparison (on common systems with 32bit ints). The upshot was
that errors returned from avio_read() were ignored, so that
the buffer could be uninitialized on success.

A heap-use-after-free vulnerability was identified in
`libavcodec/aac/aacdec.c`. When `che_configure` frees a
`ChannelElement` (`ac->che[type][id]`), it failed to clear all
references to it in `ac->tag_che_map`. `ac->tag_che_map` caches
pointers to `ChannelElement`s and can contain cross-type mappings (e.g.,
a `TYPE_SCE` tag mapping to a `TYPE_LFE` element).
In a USAC stream reconfiguration scenario, an LFE element was freed, but
a stale pointer remained in `ac->tag_che_map`. Subsequent calls to
`ff_aac_get_che` returned this dangling pointer, leading to a crash in
`decode_usac_core_coder`.
This commit fixes the issue by iterating over the entire
`ac->tag_che_map` in `che_configure` and clearing any entries that point
to the `ChannelElement` about to be freed, ensuring no dangling pointers
remain.

With this in place, running fate tests almost works in

If building in this environment with a mingw toolchain, one has
to explicitly set --target-os=mingw32. (We probably don't
want to imply that this uname, set as target_os_default, would
default to mingw?) But despite what is set with --target-os,
one can't override the configure variable "host_os", which

6c7a344b65 made the VLCs shared between
threads and did so in a way that was designed to support stream
reconfigurations, so that the structure containing the VLCs was
synced in update_thread_context. The idea was that the currently
active VLCs would just be passed along between threads.
Yet this was broken by 5acbdd2264:
Before this commit, submit_packet() was a no-op during flushing
for VP3, as it is a no-delay decoder, so it won't produce any output
during flushing. This meant that prev_thread in pthread_frame.c
contained the last dst thread that update_thread_context()
was called for (so that these VLCs could be passed along between
threads). Yet after said commit, submit_packet was no longer
a no-op during flushing and changed prev_thread in such a way
that it did not need to contain any VLCs at all*. When flushing,
prev_thread is used to pass the current state to the first worker
thread which is the one that is used to restart decoding.
It could therefore happen that the decoding thread did not contain
the VLCs at all any more after decoding restarts after flushing
leading to a crash (this scenario was never anticipated and
must not happen at all).
There is a simple, easily backportable fix given that we do not
support stream reconfigurations (yet) when using frame threading:
Don't sync the VLCs in update_thread_context(), instead do it once
during init.
This fixes forgejo issue #20346 and trac issue #11592.
(I don't know why 5acbdd2264
changed submit_packet() to no longer be a no-op when draining
no-delay decoders.)
*: The exact condition for the crash is nb_threads > 2*nb_frames.

Currently, the thread loop of ffmpeg_filter essentially works like this:
while (1) {
frame, idx = get_from_decoder();
err = send_to_filter_graph(frame);
if (err) { // i.e. EOF
close_input(idx);
continue;
}
while (filtered_frame = get_filtered_frame())
send_to_encoder(filtered_frame);
}
The exact details are not 100% correct since the actual control flow is a bit
more complicated as a result of the scheduler, but this is the general flow.
Notably, this leaves the possibility of leaving a no-longer-needed input
permanently open if the filter graph starts producing infinite frames (during
the second loop) *after* it finishes reading from an input, e.g. in a filter
graph like -af atrim,apad.
This patch avoids this issue by always querying the status of all filter graph
inputs and explicitly closing any that were closed downstream; after each round
of reading output frames. As a result, information about the filtergraph being
closed can now propagate back upstream, even if the filter is no longer
requesting any input frames (i.e. input_idx == fg->nb_inputs).

Backported-from: 38a5fcc02c
During backporting, I had to change the signature of `close_input()` to
`void close_input(FilterGraph *fg, int input_idx)` since this version of
FFmpeg does not contain a reference to the input index in the InputFilterPriv.
There is currently no way for API users to know that a buffersrc is no longer
accepting input, except by trying to feed it a frame and seeing what happens.
Of course, this is not possible if the user does not *have* a frame to feed,
but may still wish to know if the filter is still accepting input or not.
Since passing `frame == NULL` to `av_buffersrc_add_frame()` is already treated
as closing the input, we are left with no choice but to introduce a new
function for this.
We don't explicitly return the result of `ff_outlink_get_status()` to avoid
leaking internal status codes, and instead translate them all to AVERROR(EOF).

For GET_UTF8(val, GET_BYTE, ERROR), val has type of uint32_t,
GET_BYTE must return an unsigned integer, otherwise signed
extension happened due to val= (GET_BYTE), and GET_UTF8 went to

This bug incidentally cancelled the bug where hb_buffer_add_utf8
was being called with incorrect argument, allowing drawtext to
function correctly on x86 and macOS ARM, which defined char as
signed. However, on Linux and Android ARM environments, because
char is unsigned by default, GET_UTF8 now returns the correct

When the furthest-behind stream is being fed by a demuxer that is also
feeding packets to a choked filter graph, we need to unchoke that filter
graph to prevent the demuxer from getting stuck trying to write packets to
the choked filter graph.
This situation can also apply recursively - if the demuxer is also writing
to a filtergraph that is also reading from a choked demuxer, there is a
similar deadlock.
Solve all such deadlocks by just brute-force recursively unchoking all
nodes that can somehow prevent this demuxer from writing packets. This
should normally not result in any change in behavior, unless audio/video
streams are badly desynchronized, in which case it may result in extra
memory usage from the too-far-ahead stream buffering packets inside the
muxer. (But this is, of course, preferable to a deadlock)

Extensions in AAC USAC can be stored across multiple frames (mainly to keep CBR compliance).
This means that we need to reallocate a buffer when new data is received, accumulate the bitstream data,
and so on until the end of extension flag is signalled and the extension can be decoded.
This is made more complicated by the way in which the AAC channel layout switching is performed.
After decades of evolution, our AAC decoder evolved to double-buffer its entire configuration.
All changes are buffered, verified, and applied, on a per-frame basis if required, in often
random order.
Since we allocate the extension data on heap, this means that if configuration is applied,
in order to avoid double-freeing, we have to keep track of what we've allocated.
It should be noted that extensions which are spread in multiple frames are generally rare,
so an optimization to introduce av_refstruct_realloc() wouldn't generally be useful across the codebase.
Therefore, a copy is good enough for now.

- proper pts for packets. leaving it blank leaves it up for guessing,
but the guess doesn't take seeking into account, causing weirdness.
- clamp to 0 when seeking to negative ts. libopenmpt docs are unclear on
this but not doing this causes an immediate EOF when seeking backwards
to the beginning in mpv.
- only set song duration and packet pts when they are non-negative and
in int64 range. NaNs count as out of range. this isn't a fix for any
specific issue but might be helpful still, and shouldn't break
anything.

Apparently files with milliseconds exist in the wild. And since it cost
nothing to support arbitrary number of digits, extend format to support
that.
Depending on number of digits, the time base of fractional part is
changing. Most LRCs use 2 digits and centiseconds base, but subs with 3
digits and miliseconds exist too.
Set internal time base to AV_TIME_BASE, which in parcitice allows to
hold microseconds with 6 digits. Totally artificial, but who knows maybe
someone wants that.

Signed-off-by: Marton Balint <cus@passwd.hu>
(cherry picked from commit b61e510e75)
The issue is that:
float en[2];
...
tns->n_filt[w] = is8 ? 1 : order != TNS_MAX_ORDER ? 2 : 3;
for (g = 0; g < tns->n_filt[w]; g++) {
tns->direction[w][g] = slant != 2 ? slant : en[g] < en[!g];
When using the AAC Main profile, n_filt = 3, and slant is by
default 2 (normal long frames), g can go above 1.
en is the evolution of energy in the frequency domain for every
band at the given window. E.g. whether the energy is concentrated
at the top of each band, or the bottom.
For 2-pole filters, its straightforward.
For 3-pole filters, we need more than 2 measurements.
This commit properly implements support for 3-pole filters, by measuring
the band energy across three areas.
Do note that even xHE-AAC caps n_filt to 2, and only AAC Main allows
n_filt == 3.

When decoding a bitstream with weighted-bipred enabled,
the results on ARM and x86 platforms may differ.
The reason for the inconsistency is that the value of
STRIDE_ALIGN differs between platforms. And STRIDE_ALIGN
is set to the buffer stride of temporary buffers for U
and V components in mc_part_weighted.
If the buffer stride is 32 or 64 (as on x86 platforms),
the U and V pixels can be interleaved row by row without
overlapping, resulting in correct output.
However, on ARM platforms where the stride is 16,
the V component did overwrite part of the U component's pixels,
leading to incorrect predicted pixels.
The bug can be reproduced by the following bitstream.

On msys2, `uname -m` returns the architecture of the base msys2
layer. On Windows on arm64, the base msys2 layer itself is still
x86_64 only, even if running with e.g. the clangarm64 where the
windows native applications are built as aarch64.
If MSYSTEM_CARCH is set, use this instead of `uname -m` for
the default architecture. This gives the correct behaviour
for the clangarm64 environments. It also gives the correct
default for the 32 bit x86 environments such as `mingw32`.
(On `mingw32`, the fact that `uname -m` returned `x86_64`
hasn't been an issue, as both that and `i686` gets normalized
into `x86` internally in ffmpeg's configure.)

This bsf converts AV_PKT_DATA_NEW_EXTRADATA side data in avcc format
to in-band annexb format. However, the side data wasn't been removed
and copied from input packet to output packet. So the output packet
has mixed bitstream format. We don't support mixed bitstream format.
For example, h264_metadata report error in the following case:
ffmpeg -i foo.flv \
-bsf:v "h264_mp4toannexb,h264_metadata" \
-c copy -f null
This patch removed NEW_EXTRADATA side data after process.
This patch also add a check so only NEW_EXTRADATA in avcc format is

Since GCC 10 and llvm.org Clang 11, -fno-common is the default.
However Apple's Xcode Clang hasn't followed suit yet, and still
defaults to -fcommon.
Compiling with -fcommon causes uninitialized global variables to
be treated as "common" (which allows multiple object files to have
similar definitions).
Common variables seem to have the issue that their intended alignment
isn't signaled, so the linker assumes that they may need alignment
according to their full size.
With large global tables, this can lead to linker warnings like
this, with Xcode 16.3:
ld: warning: reducing alignment of section __DATA,__common from 0x8000 to 0x4000 because it exceeds segment maximum alignment
This can be reproduced with a small snippet like this:
char table[16385];
int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { return 0; }
Compiling with -fno-common avoids this issue and warning, and
matches the default behaviour of other compilers. (Compiling with
-fno-common also avoids the risk of accidentally accepting
duplicate definitions of global variables, as long as they are
uninitialized.)

The change has caused regressions for many users and consumers.
Playlist reloads only happen when a playlist doesn't indicate that it
has ended (via #EXT-X-ENDLIST), which means that the addition of future
segments is still expected.
It is well possible that an HLS server is temporarily unable to serve
further segments but resumes after some time, either indicating a
discontinuity or even by fully catching up.
With a segment length of 3s, a max_reload value of 1000 corresponds to
a duration of 50 minutes which appears to be a reasonable default.

Previously, we read elements from ff_aac_pow34sf_tab; however
that table is initialized to zero; one needs to call
ff_aac_float_common_init() to make sure that the table is
initialized.
However, given the range of the input values, a large number of
entries in ff_aac_pow34sf_tab would give results outside of the
range for signed 32 bit integers. As the largest aac_cb_maxval
entry is 16, it seems more reasonable to produce values within
an order of mangitude of that value.
(When hitting INT_MIN, implementations may end up with different
results depending on whether the value is negated as a float or
as an int. This corner case is irrelevant in practice as this
is way outside of the expected value range here.)
Coincidentally, this fixes linking checkasm with Apple's older
linker. (In Xcode 15, Apple switched to a new linker. The one in
older toolchains seems to have a bug where it won't figure out to
load object files from a static library, if the only symbol
referenced in the object file is a "common" symbol, i.e. one for
a zero-initialized variable. This issue can also be reproduced with
newer Apple toolchains by passing -Wl,-ld_classic to the linker.)

When running the cleanup in rtmp_close on failures in rtmp_open,
we can in rare cases end up using rt->playpath, assuming that it
is still set.
The crash could happen if we hit the fail codepath in rtmp_open
while publishing (rt->is_input == 0) with rt->state set to
a value > STATE_FCPUBLISH.
This would normally not happen while publishing; either we have
an error (and rt->state <= STATE_FCPUBLISH) or we reach
rt->state = STATE_PUBLISHING, and then we also return successfully
from rtmp_open.
The unexpected combination of states could happen if the server
responds with e.g. "NetStream.Play.Stop" while expecting
"NetStream.Publish.Start"; this sets rt->state to STATE_STOPPED,
which also fulfills the condition "> STATE_FCPUBLISH".
We don't need to free the rt->playpath/tcurl/flashver strings here;
they're handled via AVOption, and thus are freed automatically when
the protocol instance is freed (that's why they aren't freed
manually within the rtmp_close function either).
We also don't need to free the AVDictionary with options; it's
owned by the caller.
A smaller fix would be to just call rtmp_close before freeing
the strings and dictionary, but as we don't need to free them
at all, let's remove that redundant code.

Traditionally, macOS has shipped an old version of rsync that lacked
support for this option, hence this check (added in
a8b3f0c5cf).
However, in macOS 15.x, Apple have switched to providing rsync as a
different tool, openrsync. The version of openrsync in at least
macOS 15.2 does include "[--contimeout]" (note the lack of "=" after
the option), in the output of "rsync --help", but when used, the tool
errors out with "rsync: --contimeout=60: unknown option". So apparently
the tool erroenously lists the option as supported, while it really
isn't.
The original rsync tool (with a new enough version) prints
"--contimeout=SECONDS" in the output of "rsync --help".
It is unclear which version of openrsync Apple are shipping; the latest
upstream openrsync from OpenBSD does support the option and includes
"[--contimeout=seconds]" in the output of "--help", and older versions
don't seem to include the option as listed at all.
Therefore, check for "--conntimeout=" with the "=", this should
properly detect both new enough rsync and openrsync.
This fixes running "fate-rsync" on macOS 15.x.

pretest). There is a difference in the headings compared to the website

result seems correct.
I also renamed $element to $output_unit in ffmpeg_heading_command as in
new equivalent makeinfo/texi2any code the $element variable is the
$command variable in ffmpeg_heading_command, which is very confusing. I
left as is the $command variable to have a patch easier to read, but it
could make sense to rename $command as $element later on.
The patch could also have effects with Texinfo 7.0, since some of the
changes are for that version, but that probably never show up because it
is for situations that may not exist in ffmpeg manuals (for example
@node without sectioning command), or because the code is robust to some
missing information (case of $heading_level in ffmpeg_heading_command
that was not set, as far as I can tell).

Some DVD muxers signal segments to start with duplicate audio samples
when starting extraction from a chapter marker or terminate seamless PGs
on partial audio samples (causing corrupt AC3 frames). Clean up after
these muxers by tracking frames with duplicate PTS and eliminating
partial AC3 frames.
This results in smoother chapter extraction and overall seeking experience,
with linear PTS and AC3 delay within 32ms (1 frame) away from the video.
The issue was not apparent until the flushing pattern was replaced with
a full subdemux reset, as the flushing dropped the frames prematurely,
along side others, as such they were never present to begin with.

DVDs naturally consist of segmented MPEG-PS blobs within a VOB
(i.e. VOBs are not linear). NAV packs set the segment boundaries.
When switching between segments, discontinuities occur and thus
the subdemuxer needs to be reset. The current approach to manage
this is by invoking ff_read_frame_flush() on the subdemuxer context,
via a callback function which is invoked during the menu or dvdnav
block functions. The same subdemuxer context is used throughout
the demux, with a stretched PTS wrap bits value (64) + disabled
overflow correction, and then flushed on each segment. Eventually,
a play_end context variable is set to declare EOF.
However, this approach causes frame drops. The block read flushes the
demuxer before the frame read is complete, causing frames to drop
on discontinuity. The play_end signal likewise ends playback before
the frame read is complete, causing frames to drop at end of the title.
To compound the issue, the PTS wrap bits value of 64 is wrong;
the VOBU limit is actually 32 and the overflow correction should work.
Instead, EOF the MPEG-PS subdemuxer organically when each VOB segment
ends, and re-open it if needed with the offset after the full frame read
is complete. In doing so, correct the PTS wrap behavior to 32 bits and
remove the play_end/segment_started signals and callback pattern.
Note that the timestamps as reported by the NAV packets are known as
"PTMs", so the fields storing the time prior to adjustment are renamed
accordingly. This makes it more clear when we are offsetting the
NAV packet reported timestamps versus what we present as a demuxer.

The arm/aarch64 horizontal filter reads one additional pixel beyond what
the filter uses. This can become an issue if the application does not
allocate larger buffers than what's required for the pixel data. If the
motion vector points to the bottom right edge of the picture this
becomes a read buffer overflow. This triggers segfaults in Firefox for
video resolutions which result in a page aligned picture size like
1280x640.
Prevent this by using emulated edge in this case.

This reduces the amount the horizontal filters read beyond the filter
width to a consistent 1 pixel. The data is not used so this is usually
not noticeable. It becomes a problem when the application allocates
frame buffers only for the aligned picture size and the end of it is at
a page boundary. This happens for picture sizes which are a multiple of
the page size like 1280x640. The frame buffer allocation is based on
its most likely done via mmap + MAP_ANONYMOUS so start and end of the
buffer are page aligned and the previous and next page are not
necessarily mapped.
This mirrors the aarch64 change.

Under these conditions like seen by Firefox a read beyond the end of the
buffer results in a segfault.
After the over-read is reduced to a single pixel it's reasonable to use
VP9's emulated edge motion compensation for this.

This commit introduced a regression to VVC_HDR_UHDTV1_OpenGOP_3840x2160_50fps_HLG10_mosaic.ts.
Root Cause:
The AV_CEIL_RSHIFT(a, b) macro uses bit tricks that work only when -a is a negative value.
However, due to integer promotion rules, this behavior does not extend to the unsigned int type.
See "6.3.1.1 Boolean, characters, and integers" in the "ISO/IEC 9899" for details.
